Acting President Terry Handley

Terry Handley ’09 became the acting president of Simpson College on April 21, 2025. At the time of his appointment, Handley was serving as the chair for Simpson’s Board of Trustees and had been a board member since 2015.

In April 2021 Handley was elected to the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Marketers Insurance Company (PMMIC). He serves as a consultant to Vroom Delivery LLC, a Miami, Florida online ordering provider to the convenience store industry.

Handley is also well known as the former president and CEO of Casey’s General Stores, Inc., in Ankeny, Iowa. He retired in June 2019 after more than 38 years of leadership in Store Operations, Marketing and Food Service. He was named Chief Operating Officer in 2006, became president in 2014 and was promoted to CEO in 2016.

Handley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Simpson College. He and his wife, Nancy, reside in the Bondurant area. They have three children: Joe – 31, and twins Jon and Erin – 27.
