Human Services
Helping vulnerable populations find the support and assistance they need.
Human Services (On Campus Porgram)
The Human Services major prepares students to address the needs of various diverse communities, groups, families, and individuals in our society.
Students will analyze social forces, policies, and human service delivery systems at the micro and macro levels. They will gain knowledge in crisis assessment and intervention, counseling strategies, program evaluation, and grant writing.
Through their required field experience, students will gain practical skills and knowledge from community agency placements. The Human Services major will target skills needed to serve others.
Studying human services will help you develop your gift of compassion and your unwillingness to accept the status quo. Classes will teach you theory, skills, and knowledge and then give you an immersive experience in a human services agency.
Why Simpson College for Human Services?
We prepare graduates to serve others
When you’ve completed your degree, you will have the knowledge and skills necessary to professionally serve others. There are ample and critical opportunities to do that. The skills you will have will allow you to apply human services theories to concrete situations, formulate ethical responses to professional situations, and critique how issues of power and inequalities impact social relationships.
Human Services provides a broad range of opportunities for students to engage with the community around them and better understand how they can impact the lives of vulnerable populations.
Watch as students who have experienced the program and their professor explain why Simpson is a great place to study Human Services.
This Is What Success Looks Like
Prepare for Graduate School
I would have to go back to the quote by Mahatma Gandhi, who said the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in other things. By getting myself involved on campus and helping other organizations, I was able to find more of me, which was very helpful for my growth.
