What will I learn?

You will have the unique advantage of being able to receive direct, hands-on learning experiences in a variety of healthcare settings from day one. You will continue to hone those skills throughout your time at Simpson, focusing on patient 0-centered healthcare knowledge and skills that can serve you in a variety of healthcare related fields.

You will be introduced to common injury evaluation techniques and tests used in a wide variety of healthcare settings. Through hands-on skill building and numerous learning opportunities, you will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and assess a wide variety of orthopedic lower extremity injuries. Within this class, you will have the chance to conduct a posture and gait analysis, explore evidence-based practice and learn about common injuries and special tests to the ankle, knee and hip.

Real world opportunities


From your first year, you will be exposed to a variety of health careers and professions. Classes visit and explore the areas of physical and occupational therapy, chiropractic, mental health nursing, strength and conditioning, emergency medicine, medical sales, physicians assistant, as well as several admissions representatives from various graduate schools. 

As sophomores you have the opportunity to work with Simpson athletes through the athletic training room to gain hands on experience. And as juniors and seniors, you are encouraged to explore on-campus and off-campus internships such as with Unity Point Health, EP Tru Chiropractic, and healthcare facilities, to name a few.

What can I do with my degree?

Almost anything. Previous students have experience working in the White House Athletic Center, assisting the staff of the Minnesota Vikings and working with USA Track and Field. They’ve also landed jobs in high schools, colleges, physical therapy clinics and fitness centers across the country.
