Through a blend of contemporary issues and historical theory, our curriculum will arm you to ethically guide your organization through informed decision making.
Coursework is designed to help you gain a greater understanding of procedural justice and fairness; bias awareness, inclusivity, human rights and tolerance; ethical perspectives and ethical problem-solving, and leadership development in the areas of government, nonprofits and the private sector. You’ll learn to formulate ethical responses to professional situations and the leadership skills needed to work with diverse populations.
In this seminar, students will learn principles of effective and ethical leadership through various projects and experiences, such as completing intensive case studies and interviews of leaders, identifying and developing themes and principles from these projects, and creating leadership plans to apply for their own careers. Offered once every two years. 4 credits

The Graduate Certificate in Justice Leadership can be completed in one year. Additional time to complete the certificate can be taken if needed.

Term 1 and Term 2 are available during Fall semester. Term 3 and Term 4 are available during Spring semester.

The Graduate Certificate in Justice Leadership allows students to build the confidence, skills and presence they need to be a change agent in the dynamic field of criminal justice. It is one thing to work in an ever-evolving field, but to lead can be even tougher. Society is always changing, but effective leadership skills tend to remain the same. We will look at modern day problems through a lifelong, proven leadership skills lens. The Graduate Certificate in Justice Leadership will provide a foundation for individuals to be effective supervisors, skilled communicators, and strategic problem solvers.
Plus, if you decide at a later point to continue graduate work to earn Simpson College's Master’s of Arts in Criminal Justice, you'll only have five courses remaining to complete.
