Who is eligible for The Simpson Promise?

To qualify for this full tuition award for the 2023-24 academic year, you must:

  • be an Iowa resident and a 2023 graduate of an Iowa high school,
  • submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than July 1, 2023, and be eligible for federal aid,
  • reside on campus,
  • have a 2021 family adjusted gross income at or below $60,000,
  • be a full-time, accepted, incoming first-year student for fall 2023.

Simpson is committed to providing the institutional-based grant/scholarship amount awarded to the student in their first year, for all four years at Simpson, provided they are in good academic standing and complete the FAFSA. Students are responsible for the costs of room, board, and fees.

What if I don't qualify for The Simpson Promise?

We offer generous and competitive financial aid for every one of our students. That's right—100% of our students receive grants and scholarships.

In fact, every first-year, residential student receives at least $22,000 annually in grant or scholarship assistance. Plus, there are other scholarship opportunities that you can apply for.

Simpson provides over $30 million institutional grant & scholarship aid to our students each year, so if you don't qualify for The Simpson Promise, we can still make college affordable for you.

Is this for real?

Yes. Simpson College is dedicated to making this program clear, transparent and understandable for families.

The Simpson Promise incorporates a student's federal and state aid awards with Simpson scholarship funds to cover full tuition for the student's first year. The student is required to live on campus and be responsible for room and board.

If there are increases in tuition in subsequent years, the student is responsible for the amount of those increases.

Our financial aid counselors will map out a four-year plan based on your individual situation so you will know exactly what the financial commitment will be.
