Biography

Dr. Bradi Darrah is an Assistant Professor of Education. A proud Simpson grad, she earned her Ph.D. in Education from Drake University and an M.A. in English from Northern Arizona University. Bradi is also a licensed secondary English teacher in Iowa and holds a Gifted and Talented Endorsement from the University of Iowa.

With over seventeen years of experience in public education, Dr. Darrah has taught a diverse range of students in Iowa, Arizona, and Missouri. Her roles have included high school English teacher, English Language instructor, At-risk Coordinator, Talented and Gifted Teacher, and Advanced Placement instructor in English and Research. Dedicated to supporting underserved students, her learner-centered approach aims to create an environment where students can exceed their own expectations.

Professor Darrah’s research interests focus on the holistic development of students, exploring topics such as moral reasoning, ethical decision-making, emotional regulation and its impact on learning, motivation, and active learning strategies. She is also interested in research addressing the unique needs of special student groups.

At Simpson, Bradi continues to champion the needs of diverse learners while guiding one of our nation’s greatest resources: our future educators. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, hiking in state and national parks, and spending time with her family, often attending her children’s sporting events and music concerts.
