Biography

My favorite early career role was Executive Director of the SD CPA Society. A family move to Iowa shifted my focus to using, implementing, and supporting accounting and HRIS systems (mainframe and PC). Employers ranged from a Microsoft acquisition to one of the largest US CPA firms. During this time, I was able to put my teaching interest to work on college campuses. My career continued with 11 years at two airports in accounting and finance leadership roles. Back in Iowa, I returned to private industry learning about the expanding PEO industry, supporting not-for-profits, and a couple years with a technology-related start-up. Teaching continues, both for accounting and piano, and it is now my primary professional focus.

Education

MBA – University of Iowa Accounting Concentration for CPA Exam – University of Sioux Falls, SD

Bachelor of Music – Piano Performance – Concordia College, Moorhead MN

Publications

Deliverables at a corporate and client level for implementation guides, operations documentation, safety handbooks, employee manuals, plus mini courses for CPA continuing education and other skill building. These opportunities kept me very busy, so I never had the desire or time to formalize any of my work beyond the specific situations. I did win a national award for a continuing education catalog, and an insurance company used my manuals as examples for other customer relationships.

Awards

Woman of the Year – Nashville Business Journal
