Biography

After completing her undergraduate work, Kate taught kindergarten at Red Oak, IA for several years before completing her master’s and then her doctorate in literacy education at Iowa State University.

Her time at Simpson has been spent primarily as an instructor in the Teacher Education department focusing on elementary reading endorsement and methods courses. In the last several years, Kate has taken on leadership roles across campus as the Director of Faculty Development, Teacher Education Department Chair, and, most recently, Associate Dean of General Education and Assessment.
