Biography

Katie Smith is an Associate Professor of Sport Science and Health Education. She is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Exercise Physiologist, and Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Her research interests encompass several facets of women’s health including prenatal lifestyle interventions to prevent maternal and fetal chronic disease. More recently, her work has focused on functional nutrition and lifestyle approaches to regulate hormones for women prior to menopause.

Prior to joining the faculty at Simpson, Katie was faculty at Iowa State, worked as a Clinical Dietitian in hospitals and long-term care facilities, personal trainer, and was a member of the annual Health and Fitness Summit Planning Committee for the American College of Sports Medicine. Katie and her husband have four daughters, including identical twins, and enjoy traveling, boating, and being active outdoors.
