Meet our 2020-21 Writing Consultants
The Center for Academic Resources (CARs) is excited to announce the return of our Writing Consultant, David Robinson. In addition, we are delighted to add Lucy Cockrell as an additional Consultant! David and Lucy can work with students across the campus and at any point in their education.
Writing Consultants do not correct or revise work for writers, but they use their experience and training to guide writers toward revisions that improve content. Consultants, like good writing instructors, address content first. When possible, if content requires little revision, Consultants will provide feedback regarding sentence-level issues like grammar and mechanics.
My name is David Robinson, and I am a Music and English Major at Simpson College. During my time here, I have been involved in several areas of campus life such as Simpson Productions, Student Government, Kappa Theta Psi, and the Black Student Union. I understand first-hand how disheartening it can be trying to articulate your thoughts coherently and with the regid guidelines of academia. However, the challenges that I have faced thus far have equipped me with the tools and drive necessary to guide others in their writing consultation. I find the bridge between my love of language and education, and little gives me more pride than helping others succeed through things I love.
My name is Lucy Cockrell, I am from Burlington, IA, and am so excited to be working with the Center for Academic Resources as a Writing Consultant! I am an English Major with a Minor in Secondary Education. I am passionate about reading, writing, and my two adorable dogs at home. I am so grateful for the opportunity to help others along their educational journeys, and I can't wait to get started!
Due to high demand, Writing Consultants work only by appointment. Please select the links below to schedule time with either David or Lucy.
