Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Simpson
On November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law, designating the third Monday in January a federal holiday in observance of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Today, it is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer and improve their communities.

- 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Simpson Dialogue led by trained student facilitators | Hubbell Hall I
- 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Lunch for Dialogue participants | Black Box Theater
- 12 – 3 p.m. | MLK Jr. Day Service Projects and Social Concerns Fair (concurrent) | Hubbell Hall I & II
- Service Project – making mats for the unhoused by repurposing plastic grocery bags.
- Social Concerns Fair – various organizations will share their mission and some will offer volunteer and service opportunities.
- 3 p.m. | Ceremonial Bell Ringing in Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. | Smith Chapel
