Poulsen Wins Five Indie Music Channel Awards

Simpson College Professor of Music Jamie Poulsen recently earned five Indie Music Channel Awards for his album, “Heartland Poem”.

The Indie Music Channel Awards celebrate outstanding achievements by independent and unsigned musicians from around the world. Created by Emmy Award-winning producer Christopher Ewing, the annual red-carpet event provides artists with industry exposure and recognition based on their musical accomplishments.

Poulsen’s album, “Heartland Poem,” was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London, July 2025. The music features Grammy-nominated pianist Robert Thies and conductor Geoffrey Paterson.

“The whole album is called “Heartland Poem” because I have been inspired by my musical and life experiences in the American Midwest and what I believe is beautiful in all music,” Poulsen said.

The album captured Best Classical Artist, Best Classical Recording, Best Classical Songwriter, Producers of the Year and Album of the Year, which received the first unanimous vote from judges in the history of the awards. Poulsen said the awards could help boost the album’s visibility as he pursues a Grammy nomination.

“Winning five major awards at the Indie Music Channel Awards in Los Angeles means a lot to me, as I am still in the middle of promoting ‘Heartland Poem’,” Poulsen said. “It draws more attention to the album and hopefully gets even more people to listen and enjoy it.”
