Simpson Productions Presents Into the Woods

Simpson Productions, the theatre, opera, and musical theatre collaboration at Simpson College, presents James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s captivating musical Into the Woods. The show opens on Nov.17 and runs only one weekend.
Performances are in Pote Theatre in the Blank Performing Arts Center at Simpson College on November 17-18 at 7:30 p.m. and November 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $17.50 for seniors and non-Simpson students, $16.00 for group (10 or more) tickets, and free for Simpson students and employees with IDs.
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine take everyone’s favorite fairytale characters and bring them together for a timeless yet relevant piece that has become a modern classic.
Join us for this fantastical production as these characters go on a quest to pursue their wishes. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Simpson Productions welcomes special guests Kyle Naig and Matthew Lau, to this production. Naig, a professional conductor with recent credits at Pacific Opera Project, Intermountain Opera Bozeman, Opera Orlando, and Penn Square Music Festival, is the conductor and musical director. Lau is a member of the Simpson College voice faculty and is performing the role of the Narrator and Mysterious Man.
