Join us for Simpson Productions season opener Oct. 26-28
Simpson Productions, the theatre, opera and musical theatre collaboration at Simpson College, presents Naomi Iizuka’s Good Kids. The first show of the season opens on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Performances are held in Barnum Studio Theatre within the Blank Performing Arts Center on the Simpson College main campus in Indianola, Iowa on October 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors and non-Simpson students, $6.50 for group (10 or more) tickets, and free for Simpson students and employees with IDs.
Naomi Iizuka’s powerful one-act explores the aftermath of a sexual assault and how that story gets told in a tech-saturated world.
Something happened to Chloe after that party last Saturday night. Something she says she can’t remember. Something everybody is talking about. Set at a Midwestern high school, in a world of Facebook and Twitter, smartphones and YouTube, Good Kids explores a casual sexual encounter gone wrong and its very public aftermath. Who’s telling the truth? Whose version of the story do you believe? And what does that say about you?
A conversation will be held with members of the cast, the Simpson Counseling Center, and Sexual Assault Response Advocates (SARAs) after the Thursday, Oct. 26 performance.
WARNING: This show contains adult themes, strong language and depictions of sexual violence and is suggested for viewers 14 and older.
