Simpson Speech & Debate Scores Big in Big Apple Tourneys

Simpson College Speech and Debate captured a team title and a second-place finish while competing in a pair of online tournaments hosted by Queens College, City University of New York on Sept. 26-28. The competition featured 42 teams from around the country.

Simpson took first place in the Individual Event Sweepstakes of the East Coast Early Bird Swing Tournament — finishing 32 points ahead of second place Notre Dame. Simpson also claimed second in the Big Apple Debate Tournament, which was won by the University of North Texas.

Simpson’s strong showing featured many outstanding individual performances, including six tournament champions — led by multiple event winners Wesley McDowell, Rachel Garcia and Mya Postel. Here’s a complete recap of team and individual results:
