See the Art of Elissa Wenthe

Now Through Nov. 1 at Farnham

Body

Farnham Galleries on the Simpson campus will showcase the artwork of Elissa Wenthe through Nov. 1.

A reception for Wenthe will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 1 in Farnham, on the third floor of Mary Berry Hall. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Wenthe, who lives in Fayette, Iowa, describes herself as “an artist, educator, mother, amateur gardener and chicken raiser.”

She is an installation artist whose work derives from synthesizing figurative imagery and that of landscape whether imagined or taken from reality.  She intends to personify forms that exude a sense of energy, a sense of vitality, a sense of rawness, of beauty or sublime decadence – namely, and one that examines the gap between the ordinary and extraordinary.

Farnham Galleries is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. More information is available at 515-961-1212 or www.simpson.edu/farnham-galleries/
