Simpson College introduces Deanna McCormick as Vice President for Business and Finance

Former vice president of Albion College brings more than 30 years of experience to Simpson

Simpson College president Marsha Kelliher announced today the hiring of Deanna McCormick as vice president for Finance and Business. McCormick brings more than 30 years of higher education leadership experience as a senior finance officer for both public and private institutions. She began serving Simpson as a consultant in September 2021, and has been interim vice president since December 2021.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone of Dee’s character and caliber joining the Simpson community,” Kelliher said. “She is a rare talent with an extraordinary breadth and depth of expertise in financial management. Most importantly, Dee is a highly collaborative leader with an impressive track record of producing innovative, forward-looking solutions to complex and ever-evolving financial challenges.”

McCormick most recently served in higher ed as chief operating officer and vice president for Finance and Administration at Albion College in Michigan. Prior to Albion, she held senior financial roles at six other institutions including Wabash College (IN), Clarke University (IA), Notre Dame of Maryland University and the College of Wooster (OH). She has also owned and operated a financial consulting business and is completing a stint as a visiting professor at the University of Indiana’s Kelley School of Business.

“I have already seen the deep commitment shared by the Simpson Board of Trustees, senior leadership, as well as faculty and staff in providing a quality education for all students,” McCormick said. “While there are many challenges in the future, there are also significant opportunities. I am extremely excited to call Simpson College and Indianola my new home.”

McCormick holds a B.S. with honors in Business from Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis, where she also earned her MBA. Additionally, she spent a year studying piano at the University of Miami.
