Simpson College Mock Trial Compete at Regionals

Body

Simpson College Mock Trial earned its highest placement to date at last week’s regional competition at Drake University, with the potential for an open bid to the opening round national championship series.

At the tournament, Simpson competed against programs from across the Midwest, winning ballots against teams from Grinnell College, Central College, and the University of Wisconsin.

Senior Allie Tubbs was the only student from any program, out of a tournament with nearly 200 competitors, to earn a perfect twenty ranks on judges’ ballots for her performance as an attorney.  Tubbs, who also serves as team captain, received a regional Outstanding Attorney award to recognize this accomplishment.

“I am extremely proud to have helped lead this team ranging from eager freshman to experienced seniors,” Tubbs said.  “This group has grown tremendously and the comradery, competition preparation, team wins, and accomplished coaching are the reasons why Simpson’s mock trial team continues to make history. The mock trial team is brimming with potential and I cannot wait to see the future for this program.”

Simpson Mock Trial is open to all students and focuses on developing students’ collaborative leadership and communications skills.
