SOAR
Simpson Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) is designed to introduce you to college by helping you register for classes and giving you the best advice regarding transitioning to college life.
SOAR is an introduction for new first-year and transfer students to Simpson College. During your scheduled SOAR day, you will meet your faculty advisor, register for your first semester classes, and start building relationships with the class of 2029! Throughout this process, you will have the guidance of a current student who will serve as your orientation leader both in the summer and again in the fall when you begin your college journey at Simpson. Students and guests will have separate schedules at SOAR.

ALEKS Placement Exam
Students planning to study Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Math, Physics, Pre-PT or Pre-PA will receive the test via email shortly after receiving their credentials from IT. Students should take ALEKS before attending SOAR, as this information will be used to create your fall class schedule. Your Simpson College credentials will be used to log into OneLogin, where the ALEKs Placement can be found. If you are unable to take the placement before SOAR, you are encouraged to arrive to SOAR by 8:15 to meet with math faculty to discuss the assessment and your fall course schedule.
