Simpson Writing Center (SWC)

Every student can benefit from the Simpson Writing Center (SWC). Our goal is to get you in the write frame of mind.

Whether crafting your first research paper or speech, designing a group project PowerPoint presentation, or authoring your senior capstone, our SWC team has you covered. We’ll guide you through every stage of the writing process — from  brainstorming and organizing ideas to revising and polishing drafts.

Working with SWC just might be the smartest thing you do at Simpson. After all, learning to write and present well  will make all the difference as you prepare to compete for top grad school and career placements.

Academic Coaching

Learn to excel in your studies while working with our CARS team of peer educators who are ready and highly capable to serve as your academic coaches and writing consultants.

Mission Statement

The Center supports student engagement and success using a student-focused approach to teach effective learning strategies, connect students to resources, and build effective relationships.

Vision Statement

Students will flourish as a result of engaging in opportunities at Simpson, reflecting on their experiences, and developing the confidence and capacity to apply what they have learned.

Aims

  • Promote effective learning strategies through outreach, programming, and coaching.
  • Honor the uniqueness of each student by using a culturally responsive, strengths-based approach.
  • Facilitate a growth mindset resulting in self-directed and lifelong learning.
  • Utilize a whole-person perspective to ensure students seek and use resources, build interdependent relationships, apply practices, and actualize their agency through growth and development.
