Accessing Career Development During COVID-19
The Office of Career Development remains available to students and is happy to answer questions via email at careers@simpson.edu. Students can still receive support in the following ways:
Individual Appointments
The office will leverage Zoom, phone and email to connect with students who are: exploring majors/career, searching for internships or jobs, navigating graduate school admission, polishing application materials, preparing for interviews or strengthening LinkedIn profiles.
Students are asked to schedule appointments through Handshake.
- Login with your Simpson email and password
- Click "Career Center"
- Click "Appointments"
Group Workshops and Employer Engagement
Seniors have already been invited to a Job Search Series. Additional workshops and alternative ways to engage employers are being discussed.
Online Job Board
The office continues to approve internship and job postings from employers through Handshake.
Internship Support
Access links on SC Connect (SC Connect / My Links / Career Development) to register for internship credit and to apply for wage assistance for unpaid internships.
CandidCareer Video Library
Access videos of real people speaking about their career experiences. Videos are available for students who are exploring their career options as well as those students seeking advice on getting hired.
Spring 2020 On-Site Internships
Due to the challenges presented by COVID-19, completing an on-site internship during spring 2020 will be a challenge. Questions may be directed to: careers@simpson.edu.
Please take the following steps:
- Maintain communication with internship site supervisors, faculty advisors, and the Career Development team.
- Complete on-site internship hours only if the employer and student deem it safe and follow guidelines outlined by local and national health experts.
- Ideally, on-site supervisors will instead provide remote work or projects for interns. If that is not possible, our faculty supervisors will provide alternative academic projects.
Access a network worth its weight in Red and Gold
As a Simpson graduate, you’ll join the workforce with a force at work behind you. Our nimble size means our alumni and professional connections are close knit, supportive and ready for you to tap at any time.
Getting your success story off the ground starts your very first year as a student here. Simpson’s team of professionals is ready to support you along your career development journey. Whether you are choosing a major, exploring careers, applying for internships or preparing for life after graduation, we will work with you to accomplish your goals.
Graduate with purpose
Our Career Development team works to help all students be competitive candidates for their first-choice destinations following college. We offer one-on-one appointments, on-campus interviews with potential employers, group workshops and academic courses specifically designed to prepare you for an internship or observe a career path you’re interested in first-hand.
We’ll help you find and follow through on landing an internship for academic credit, real work experience and professional mentorship, and—for many of our students—a job after graduation.
Alumni outcomes
At least 95% of Simpson College graduates are employed, continuing their education, completing a year of service or serving in the military within six months of graduation. We’ve maintained that high percentage rate since 2014. Check out where our students first headed within six months of graduation in 2020.
Employers—are you looking for great employees?
Look no further. Simpson can help connect you with bright, eager students through online job postings and networking opportunities.
