Congratulations to the Simpson Class of 2023
Today, Saturday, April 29, graduates walked the stage in Cowles Fieldhouse to receive their degrees from Simpson College. There are 215 graduates in the 2023 spring class, including traditional undergraduate students, undergraduates from the College Continuing, Graduate and Online program and three students earning their master’s degrees in criminal justice.
The traditional undergraduate speaker, Melissa Sanchez, gave an inspiring speech about her international student experience. Kristine Darland, a now graduate of the College Continuing, Graduate and Online program, detailed what she’s learned from her education journey. Both expressed their appreciation for those who helped them along the way and congratulated their fellow classmates.
At spring commencement each year, three awards are given out: the Staff Student Impact Award, the Distinguished Teaching Award, and the Trustees’ Academic Award. The Staff Student Impact Award recipient was the Director of Student Accessibility Services, Karen Lynch. Professor of Chemistry, Adam Brustkern, received the Distinguished Teaching Award. The Trustees’ Academic Award recipient was Allie Tubbs, a Simpson 2023 graduate earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis on Disability Studies & Law.
Simpson would like to thank all those who attended commencement virtually and in person. The College would also like to thank all those who supported the class of 2023 on campus and at home.
