He Fits the Bill(s)
David Adams ’13 is willing to go most anywhere for a great opportunity.
The Palm Springs, Calif., native embraced the thrill of a snowy football recruiting visit to enroll at Simpson. Since then, his adventures in sport administration have taken him from Iowa to New Orleans, Kansas City and now Buffalo, where he serves as vice president for corporate partnerships with the Bills.
“The experiences I’ve had have helped shape me as a person,” said Adams. “Getting to understand different regions and cultures while making friends all across the country has been a real blessing.”
Along the way, Adams has made smooth career transitions from working in minor league hockey to stints in NFL football, NBA basketball, MLB baseball and MLS soccer.
“What you do from a corporate partnership perspective, those skills translate well from league to league,” said Adams. “The biggest difference is learning the market, learning the team and understanding your value proposition.”
Adams has tremendous value to offer potential corporate sponsors of the Bills, as the team prepares to open a “state-of-the-art” new stadium this fall.
“Being part of that experience has been incredible,” said Adams. “We are in a new era of Bills football with [star quarterback] Josh Allen and a top 10 international fan base. The new stadium has given us an opportunity to reset our value proposition — to reset who we are, what we represent and the partners we want to bring on board.”
Through all the excitement of his career, Adams is grateful for the value he received from Simpson.
“I loved my experience at Simpson. Playing football there taught me a lot about leadership and teamwork. And my professors in political science, marketing, communications and sport admin helped me grow so much. So, whenever a Simpson student reaches out to me, I want to be intentional in giving back to the college that gave so much to me.”
