Simpson Earns Four-Star Rating in 2024 Money Rankings
Money has awarded Simpson College four of five stars in its 2024 “Best Colleges in America” rankings. Of the 16 private Iowa colleges featured, Simpson was one of only four schools to earn a four-star or higher rating. Money examined and evaluated schools based on 24 value factors in three primary categories: quality of education, affordability and outcomes.
“This prestigious recognition provides compelling evidence of the outstanding return on investment students receive at Simpson College,” said Leigh Mlodzik, vice president of enrollment management. “And we continue to build momentum in creating an exceptional educational experience with our just-completed $10 million renovation of Dunn Library and recent classroom upgrades, as well as facility enhancements and program expansion in athletics that are expanding opportunities for students.”
Quality of education factors supporting Simpson’s selection included six-year graduation rates, instructor access (student-faculty ratio) and Pell Grant recipient outcomes. Affordability criteria involved considerations such as net price of a degree, estimated average student debt and ability to repay debt. Finally, outcomes looked at variables such as earnings 10 years after college entry, economic mobility and return on investment.
Students and their families are taking note of Simpson’s ascending value, as evidenced by recent enrollment trends.
“We welcomed our largest incoming class in five years last fall,” said Mlodzik. “And this year’s incoming class will be even larger. There’s a very energetic vibe here right now – it’s just a great time to be at Simpson.”
