Washington Monthly Ranks Simpson a Top 25 Bachelor’s College

Simpson is #25 in Washington Monthly’s 2025 Bachelor’s Colleges rankings released last week. Washington Monthly evaluates colleges based on “what they do for the country” by examining their performance across four broad categories: access, affordability, outcomes and promoting public service.

“Receiving this top 25 national distinction is truly an honor,” said Dr. Sue Stuebner, interim president. “It underscores once again that Simpson College remains focused on providing an exceptional, highly accessible educational experience that serves the best interests of our students.”

Washington Monthly awarded Simpson a #4 ranking for accessibility, which measures how well colleges provide access to, and graduate, students of all financial means. The rankings included 208 bachelor’s colleges. To review the full list of rankings and methodology, visit the Washington Monthly site here.

Earlier this month, Simpson was one of only two private Iowa colleges to earn 4.5 out of 5 stars in Money’s 2025 ratings of “Best Colleges in America.”
