Master of Arts in Teaching

Candidates who complete Simpson’s Master of Arts in teaching or transition to teaching coursework will earn a secondary teaching license for Iowa, setting them on the path to success. 

The Simpson College Teacher Education Program nurtures empowered educational leaders who think critically, reflectively, and creatively. The program also promotes compassionate practice that is inclusive, equitable, and transformative education and continuously engages in professional growth to build a socially just and enlightened society.

Choose from a variety of teaching disciplines

Simpson College offers two graduate teacher education programs for candidates pursuing secondary licensure in business, world languages, English/language arts, math, natural sciences, and social sciences: the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, which results in both licensure and a master’s degree, and the Transition to Teaching (T-to-T) program, which results in licensure.
