Jazz Camp
Each year in June, the Simpson College Music Department hosts up to 100 students for a 6-day jazz camp.
The Simpson College Jazz Combo camp provides an intensive experience for middle and high school students, ages 12 – 19, looking to gain skills and appreciation in jazz and improvisation. The faculty includes some of the most respected jazz educators in the Midwest. Students will have many opportunities to work on their craft, and be able to hear the faculty perform nightly.
Tuition Reduction Opportunities

Tuition Reduction Opportunities:
- Parents with multiple children attending the camp will reduce each child’s tuition from that family by $25.
- Promotional codes may be offered throughout the year or in association with events like the Simpson College Jazz Festival.
- Thanks to a recent benefactor, five $100 scholarships are available. All registered students are welcome to apply by sending a 250-word maximum answer to the question: “What musical goals do you have for yourself, and how is the Simpson College Jazz Camp going to help you achieve them?”
Audition Material
Auditions occur on the first day of camp after registration (Sunday) beginning at 4:00PM. Specific sites will be posted at registration, and camp staff will be available to help guide you to your locations.
Though auditions help with placement into groups for the week, they are a very low- pressure event – think of it as more of an opportunity to introduce yourself to us musically so we can provide the best possible instruction for where you’re at in your musical journey.
