Upper-Division Options

Residence Life

For our upper-division students, we offer a variety of housing options in the residence halls, theme houses, Greek houses and apartments.

Buxton Hall
Buxton Hall, located at 606 North E Street, provides co-educational suite-style housing for 134 upper-division students. The large four-person rooms share a bathroom with the adjoining same-sex suite. Buxton Hall rooms also have the luxury of a sleeping area that is separate from the rest of the room. Buxton Hall is adjacent to Blank-Pote Theatre and Picken Hall and near Carse Fitness Center and the Kent Campus Center. Buxton Hall is a substance free building (no smoking, alcohol, etc.) To see the Buxton floor plan, visit the links below.

Picken Hall
Picken Hall is a co-educational facility housing 94 upper-division students. It is located at 605 North D Street. Most rooms are set up as two-person suite-style rooms that share a bathroom with the room next door. Four rooms on the lower level are triple rooms with a community bath. Picken Hall is adjacent to Carse Fitness Center and Blank-Pote Theatre and near Kent Campus Center. Picken Hall is a substance-free building (no smoking, alcohol, etc.) To see the Picken floor plan, click the links below.

Apartments
Simpson College owns seven apartment buildings: Clinton, Colonial, Detroit, Hamilton, Station Square, Washington and Weinman. The apartments are primarily designated for students in their junior or senior years. Occasionally a sophomore may be able to get into an apartment through the housing lottery process, but all first-year students live in one of our traditional first-year buildings.

All apartments offer standard amenities which include:

CLINTON
The Clinton Apartments, located at 701 West Clinton, are located one block west of the Hamilton Apartments and across from Irving Elementary. COLONIAL
Colonial Apartments, located at 504 North Buxton Street, are directly across from the Amy Robertson Music Center and next door to Washington Apartments. This building houses two to four upper division students per apartment in 14 one- and two-bedroom units. Each apartment has one bathroom. WASHINGTON
Washington Apartments, located at 500 North Buxton Street, are directly across from the Amy Robertson Music Center and next door to Colonial Apartments. This building houses two to four upper division students per apartment in 12 one- and two-bedroom units. Each apartment has one bathroom. Being close to the heart of campus and having spacious parking, this building is highly desired by Simpson students. Click here to see the Washington floor plan.

STATION SQUARE
Station Square Apartments, located at 100 East Detroit, are directly across from the Simpson College Campus Services Office. This building contains 22 four-person apartments and one two-person apartment. Each apartment has two bathrooms. This building has been designated the only substance-free and 24-hour quiet hour apartment building on campus. The large rooms, extra bathroom, and added amenities make this building the most popular among upper division students. Residents also have the option to rent a garage during the school year. HAMILTON
Hamilton House Apartments, located at 501 West Clinton, are catty-corner from Bill Buxton Stadium and across from Irving Elementary School. This building contains 12 four-person apartments. Each apartment has one bathroom. The location of Hamilton House is perfect for students who want to be close to campus but somewhat removed. To see the Hamilton floor plan click here.

WEINMAN
Weinman Apartments, located at 501 North E Street, are on the corner of Detroit and E Street and next door to Detroit Street Apartments. This building contains 11 four-person apartments and one two-person apartment and is a short walk from campus. Each apartment has one bathroom. To see the Weinman floor plan, click here.

Note: There are no lights in the bedrooms of Weinman, so it is strongly suggested that you bring lamps for those rooms.

DETROIT
Detroit Street Apartments are located at 608/700/702 Detroit Street. They are comprised of three separate apartment buildings that make up the Detroit apartment community. Buildings 608 and 700 both contain four, four-person apartments and one, three-person apartment. Building 702 contains four, four-person apartments. Each apartment has one bathroom. The Detroit Apartments are a short walk from campus but have spacious parking opportunities. To see the Detroit floor plans, click on the individual building numbers (608/700/702).
