A 10-slide PowerPoint that goes through the process of analysis and evaluation of arguments. Students start by identifying the claim of the argument. Next they analyze the argument. The final slides pose questions about the quality/validity of the argument.

Go to material:

Strengths:

This PowerPoint spends a few slides describing what persuasion and argumentation is before getting to the analysis.

Concerns:

It is fairly basic.

Recommendations:

Use slides 6-10 for students to analyze an argument that you provide.  Unless the students need further or basic instruction in persuasion, slides 6-10 are the most effective.
