Christy Eckerty

Music Teaching Artist - Piano

Biography

Christy Eckerty received a doctoral degree in piano performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she studied with Robert Weirich.  She received her master’s degree in piano performance from Ohio University.  As a featured concerto soloist, she has appeared with the Medical Arts Symphony in Kansas City, and her work as a collaborative pianist has been heard on Iowa Public Radio.  In addition to music, she has also studied literature and creative writing, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English.  Her doctoral dissertation combined her interests in literature and music, focusing on the role of narrative in the music of Robert Schumann.  She teaches applied piano as an affiliate faculty member at Simpson.
