Biography
Spencer Waugh started Simpson’s Debate Team in 2011, and added the speech component in 2013. Simpson now has a comprehensive program that includes six different styles of debate and over a dozen individual events. Mock Trial was added in 2016. Spencer spends several weekends a year traveling with Simpson’s speech and debate team. The team practices two evenings each week. Practices start late August and the season wraps up early April. All Simpson students are welcome and encouraged to join the team. Simpson College won the National Pi Kappa Delta Debate Tournament in 2016, 2018, and again in 2019.
