Simpson College will hold a dedication ceremony and open house at 3:30 p.m., Feb. 16, to celebrate the completed $10.5 million renovation of Dunn Library. The public is invited to attend the dedication and tour the fully reimagined library, which will also serve as a state-of-the-art new home for teacher education and comprehensive academic support services.
“We are grateful to our many benefactors who have generously supported this transformational investment in the Simpson educational experience for our students,” said Jay Byers, president of Simpson College. “The innovative redesign distinguishes Dunn Library as the hub for heightened academic excellence at Simpson — creating a vibrant, optimally-connected environment for individual and collaborative study seven days a week.”
Simpson’s teacher education program will benefit from a new curriculum lab, classrooms, shared workspaces, meeting rooms and more. The enhancements are the ideal environment for innovative lesson development and methods classrooms simulating today’s best K-12 teaching.
Additionally, the new-look library will include dedicated space for prized physical collections and expanded access to e-books and digital databases. Students now also have expanded study spaces, more collaborative workrooms, and an outdoor patio funded by the Simpson Student Government Association.
President Byers and Board Chair Terry Handley, along with other members of the Simpson community, will offer remarks at the dedication ceremony, which will be held in the main lobby area of Dunn Library.
