American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Historical Periodicals  Serials holdings of one of the American Antiquarian Society.

  • Series 1: Over 500 titles from 1691 through 1820
  • Series 2: Over 1000 titles dating from 1821 through 1837
  • Series 3: Over 1,800 titles dating from 1838 through 1852
  • Series 4: Over 1,100 titles dating from 1853 through 1865

American Physiological Society Legacy Journals (APS) Backfiles of the journals of the American Physiological Society, back to the first issue of each of the APS journals. These include American Journal of Physiology (1898-1997) and Journal of Applied Physiology (1948-1996).

Des Moines RegisterFull-text articles available from 1999 to present. Dunn Library has a microfiche index July 1975 - Dec 1991.  DSM Public Library has an online index to the DMR (1986-) and other Des Moines newspapers. Included in US Newstream.

Internet Archive An American digital library, providing free public access to collections of digitized materials, including millions of books.

IPA Music Source Library of International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) transcriptions and literal translations of opera arias and art song texts.

JSTOR* Arts & Sciences I, II & III and Music Collections include complete back runs of many journals in a variety of disciplines, including economics, history, music, political science, and sociology plus selection of titles in fields of archaeology, arts, classics, cultural studies, ecology, literature, mathematics, music, and statistics.

Kanopy   Over 30,000 films, including critically acclaimed movies, inspiring documentaries, award-winning world language films, and more. Check out the Kanopy LibGuide. Manda Gibson made a Simpson-specific guide for embedding videos. Most films allow campus groups to show free screenings at Simpson -- look for the PPR symbol, allowing public performance rights.

nytimes.com Dunn Library provides access to NYTimes.com, New York Times mobile apps, New York Times Audio, and New York Times in Education to Simpson students, faculty, and staff. The NYTimes.com Academic Access Pass gives you unlimited access to all content on the site (limit of five articles per day from 1923 to 1980).

New York Times* Full-text articles in the national "newspaper of record" from 1980 - date. Included in US Newstream.

Nexis Uni* Access to more than 17,000 news, business and legal sources from LexisNexis in three primary collections: 1) full-text access news sources worldwide back to the 1970s; 2) aggregated economic data on businesses, corporations, and industries; 3) full-text legal documents, including U.S. Federal and State court cases, and law reviews from late 18th century to present. Oxford English Dictionary (OED) It is a unique source of scholarly information on meaning, history and pronunciation of words both past and present.

Oxford Music Onlineincludes Grove Music Online, Oxford Companion to Music, and Oxford Dictionary of Music plus articles from specialty dictionaries such as  New Grove Dictionary of Opera and New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. Search box in upper right corner. Sign In in the left column under Simpson College is to access “personal accounts” and does need to be activated to use Oxford Music Online.

Oxford Scholarship OnlineProvides access to thousands of books from world-renowned scholarly list of Oxford University Press. Subjects included humanities, social sciences, sciences, medicine, and law.
