More than 120 students will be featured presenters at the 14th Annual Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium, held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, on the Simpson College campus. The participating students will showcase their work through oral presentations, posters, artistic performances and class panel discussions.
The symposium demonstrates the myriad of ways in which undergraduate research expands beyond the classroom to hands-on work that connects students' research with community engagement. Community members in attendance will discover how Simpson prepares its students to address real-world problems and seek appropriate solutions.
"This symposium is conducted not just to celebrate student achievements but also to recognize the work that faculty members put in to ensure student success," says Director of Undergraduate Research and Creativity, Aswati Subramanian. "Through this work, we are able to see the extraordinary collaboration between our students and faculty, a partnership that highlights the relationship between mentors and student mentees and is crucial to student success."
The year's event will include a keynote address by Dr. Christina Johnson, a curator at the NASA Open Science Data Repository. As a new addition to the symposium, awards will be presented for the best poster and oral presentations to celebrate students' remarkable achievements.
