The Bachelor of Music in Performance from Simpson College is a specialized undergraduate degree that prepares you for successful graduate work. The music faculty at Simpson strives to make your academic work and performance experience one of balance and integration. For several decades, Simpson has had great success in the performance area, with nearly 100% of our graduates securing admission to Masters’ programs all over the country.
What will I learn?
Whether you like to sing or play an instrument (or both!), Simpson will equip you with all the tools necessary to reach your goals. Depending on which track you choose, these are a sample of the types of classes in which you will become immersed.
This course will examine the great eras of music history with particular attention to the development of listening skills. Topics will include the development of musical form and initial consideration of major works in all genres from the medieval to the 21st century as well as the interaction of the fine arts and their function within changing societies.

Whether you intend to build your degree around music or simply want to perform in an ensemble, Simpson offers a robust scholarship program for students from all majors interested in continuing musical pursuits throughout college.


What can I do with a music performance degree?
Most students who graduate with a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Performance continue on to graduate school for more specialized training. Careers can include music historian, performer, conductor, music therapist, private teacher, music publisher or music teacher.
