Simpson College has hosted an honor band for 7th and 8th grade students for thirty years. This festival allows students from many schools to come together and work with exciting guest conductors. Typically over fifty schools participate. The event occurs in January and students perform in the newly renovated Pote Theatre in the Blank Performing Arts Center.
This year’s festival will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Rehearsals will begin at 9:30 AM, and the evening concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Blank Performing Arts Center, located on the Simpson College campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The guest conductors for this year’s festival are Mr. Wayne Page and Mr. Steve Britt.
As usual there will be two bands for the festival. It is our intention to have these two bands display equal ability, based upon the comments given by directors on the nomination forms. Be assured, there will not be a ‘strong’ band and a ‘weak’ band, at least not by intention!
