Sociology Major

Course Requirements

  • SOC 101: Intro to Sociology (CE)
  • SOC 210: Statistics for the Social Sciences (QR) SOC 320: Sociological Theory (HP)
  • SOC 321: Methods of Social Research (IL) SCJ340: Race and Ethnic Relations OR CJ335: Inequality and Justice (DP)
  • SOC 347: Field Experience in Sociology (WC)
  • SCJ 352: Standards for Professional Behavior (EV, WC)

Electives

16 credits (typically 4 courses) in Sociology, Human Services, or Anthropology

Notes

  • At least 8 credits of electives must be at the 300 level
  • No more than 12 credits can count in another major/minor
  • 4 credits can be from a related area outside of the department, with departmental approval

 

Sociology Minor

Course Requirements

  • SOC 101: Intro to Sociology (CE)
  • SOC 204: Modern Social Problems (CT)

12 credits (typically 3 courses) additionally in Sociology, Human Services, or Anthropology
