How do I RESET my password IF I HAVE FORGOTTEN IT?

From https://scconnect.simpson.edu before you log in, click the red link above the username that says I want to change my password.

It will take you to a web page with a login section - but look below that and select "Reset Password" and you will be able to answer your security questions to reset your password if you have previously set up your Password Manager account.  If you have not done that, please call the helpdesk as listed above, and we will reset it and help you set up your security questions for future issues.

Are there password requirements?

Yes, please follow these very important password requirements:

  • Minimum password length: 14
  • Disallow use of 3 previous passwords
  • Disallow the use of these patterns: qwerty, asdf, 1234, simpson, fall, winter, spring, summer.

How do I choose a password?

When you change your password it must follow the requirements listed above. A phrase that you can remember and is not necessarily associated with you such as the first sentence in a book you like can work or acronyms that mean something to you can work very well.  An example of a secure password might be "It was a dark and stormy knight!" This passphrase contains capital and lower case letters, spaces, a grammar issue, and special characters.

It is time to change your password if:

  • You have revealed your password to anyone else.
  • You have written your password down anywhere.
  • You have surrendered your credentials via a phishing attempt.
