Active Learning: Six Concrete Examples

By Sal Meyers, Mar 3, 2014

Active learning involves getting students doing things in class.  Many active learning techniques can be integrated into lectures to get students more engaged during class.  Barbara Mills provides examples of six different active learning tools that can be used in face-to-face class sessions:  thinking-aloud pair problem-solving, three-step interview, think-pair-share, visible quiz, value line, and send/pass-a-problem.  You can read about these six tools at http://ideaedu.org/sites/default/files/paperidea_53.pdf.
