Short video clips on public speaking. A professional speaker and author of five books, Scott Ginsberg offers casual and conversational pointers on topics such as openers, storytelling, using humor, engaging the audience, and many more.

Strengths

The information is based on the speaker’s professional and practical experience. The clips are brief but engaging. Students will take away pointers from any of these videos.

Concerns

This is not an academic production, and the videos are not really sequential. Rather, they are a lot of good ideas, but it lies with the professor to sequence them appropriately or as needed.

Recommendations

These videos should be shown one at a time, as supplementary material, either in-class or along with an activity on scholar. Some are more useful than others (i.e. Storytelling in speeches), but there is a tip in most of them. Instructors should make the disclaimer that this information is meant to help students contextualize what they talk about in class or read in the textbook.
