Strengths

This resource provides ideas for world language instructors who are trying to incorporate OC elements into their course. The ideas could easily be adapted to other languages, even including ESL courses.

Concerns

There is no specific instruction on how to make an effective oral presentation; it is more a collection of ideas for getting students communicating orally in the target language.

Recommendations for use

Some options include: assigning students to present a “TV news report” in the target language (individual activity); assigning students to conduct a “mock trial” in the target language (group activity); assigning students to put on short skits in the target language (group activity).
