New First Year

Move-In Day
Move-in day for first-year students is scheduled for Saturday, August 28 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Students should sign up for a half hour check-in time slot and should plan to arrive during that time. A link to sign up for a check-in time will be sent via email shortly after housing assignments are emailed in mid-July.

Early Arrivals
Early arrivals for fall athletics, CampusConnect, or bridge programs should check with their coach or group leader for information about their team or group’s check in date, time, and location. Early arrivals are not allowed unless associated with a college program and approved by Residence Life. First-year students approved to arrive early are not likely to have help available to move items.

Check-in and Unloading

Students living in Kresge

  • Go to the intersection of Girard Avenue and North C Street and turn south. Please drive down the paved roundabout area directly between Kresge and the Kent Campus Center.
  • For the main move-in day, the Kresge check-in tent is located just off the roundabout near the west entrance of the building. Students moving in early will check-in at the location provided by their coach or group leader.
  • Please do not pull trailers into the roundabout area. If you must bring a trailer, you can park along Girard near the Kent parking lot.

Check-in packets

  • When students arrive, they will receive their ID, room combination, mail box information, and information about parking decals if they’ve registered a vehicle to park on campus. Residence Life staff will be available to point students in the right direction and answer any questions

Reminders

  • Students should have all belongings clearly marked with their name and room number.
  • Please have someone stay with your vehicle while it is unloaded. Vehicles must be moved out of the Kresge roundabout and Barker lots as soon as they are unloaded in order to keep traffic moving.
  • Complete your room inventory form upon arrival in your room.

Parking

  • After unloading, student vehicles can be parked in the parking lot near the baseball field, the far north lot on the north side of the Greek fraternities, the far east row of the lot to the east of Colonial and Washington apartments, or the lot at Campus Services (located across Detroit Avenue from Station Square apartments). Staff will be available to help point you in the right direction.
  • After unloading, guest vehicles can be parked in street parking around campus (where available), in the parking lot at Kent Campus Center, the parking lot north of Buxton and Picken (west of Kent), or the lot near the baseball field.
